When His Love Turned Cruel(84)

Chapter 84

The scene was tense, thick with confusion and emotions running high. Myra’s heart pounded in her chest as she stood there, caught in the web of lies and manipulation. Sean’s words, his gaze, his protective actions toward Lyla—everything about this moment felt suffocating, overwhelming. She felt as if the air was too heavy to breathe.

Lyla’s tears seemed more like an act than anything genuine. Myra could see it in her eyes—the smugness barely hidden beneath the layers of feigned vulnerability. The photos scattered across the table were the final nail in the coffin, and Sean’s reaction to them hit Myra like a slap in the face.

As the photos landed on her, she felt a sharp sting—both physical and emotional. The weight of their betrayal settled in her chest, and the pain was almost unbearable. She tried to ignore it, but it was hard when she saw Sean, so angry, so hurt, looking at her as though she were the one who had wronged him.

She clenched her fists, willing herself not to cry, not to break in front of them. There was a part of her that wanted to scream at Sean, to demand why he never treated her with the same kindness he was giving to Lyla. But instead, she held her ground. She wouldn’t let herself be humiliated anymore.

The situation was turning absurd. Lyla’s acting was impeccable, and Sean, completely consumed by his guilt and doubt, was falling for it. He looked at Myra as if she were the villain, as if all of this was somehow her fault.

When Lyla spoke again, her voice dripping with sweetness, Myra wanted to lash out. “I don’t want your sympathy,” Myra said, her voice hardening. “And you’re not going to manipulate him anymore. Sean doesn’t deserve to be caught in the middle of your lies. Neither do I.”

But Sean didn’t seem to hear her. His focus was entirely on Lyla. He gently took off his jacket and draped it over her shoulders, a gesture so tender it made Myra’s heart ache. It wasn’t for her, never for her, and that realization stung more than anything.

“I’m not interested in what you think of me anymore, Myra,” Sean said, his voice cold, his eyes narrowing as he stared at her. “I’ve had enough of this.”

His words cut through her, and for the first time, Myra could feel the weight of her entire marriage crashing down on her. She had been living in a facade, hoping for something real, but now she saw the truth. Sean wasn’t on her side. He never had been.

Lyla’s smug smile was almost too much for Myra to bear. She was getting exactly what she wanted, and Myra was once again left holding the broken pieces of a shattered dream.

“I think it’s time you leave, Myra,” Sean said, his tone dismissive now, as if the matter was already settled.

Myra’s chest tightened. She had always fought for this marriage, always tried to be the good wife, the dutiful partner. But now, looking at the two of them, she realized she was fighting a losing battle. They were in their own world, one she could never be a part of.

For a long moment, she stayed silent, her heart heavy with the weight of everything that had been exposed. She wanted to say something, anything, but no words came. In the end, there was nothing more to be said.

With a final glance at the two of them, Myra turned away, her steps slow and deliberate as she made her way out of the cafeteria. The door closed behind her with a quiet click, but inside, a storm raged.

She didn’t know what the future held, but for the first time in a long while, she felt like she was finally free of their games.
