When His Love Turned Cruel(96)

Chapter 96

Tony was determined to use nearly ten billion just to win over a woman. Sebastian was livid. “She must be asking for a lot if you’re willing to pay this much! I need to meet her. Let me see if she’s really worth all that money!” The old man grabbed his coat and headed toward the door, but Tony immediately blocked his path.

Sebastian couldn’t hold back another scolding. “Why are you still here? Go get rid of that woman already! No matter how much money you throw at her, she’ll never be worthy of joining the Hart Family!”

Tony, however, remained calm. “Whether or not I can afford her is none of your concern,” he said, his voice steady. “What matters now is that I need the money from Switzerland. Just make sure it’s ready by Sunday.” He gave Sebastian a piercing look.

Sebastian froze for a moment, glaring at his grandson with a mix of anger and disbelief. “So you think I’ll just hand it over because you ask? You’re shameless!”

Tony didn’t flinch. “You’ve always hoped I’d settle down and find a wife, haven’t you? How am I supposed to do that without putting in some effort?” He said it as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.

“You bastard!” Sebastian shouted, but before he could do anything, Tony was already heading toward the door. “Don’t think about touching your grandmother’s dowry!” Sebastian roared, his anger flaring up again.

Tony paused, smirking. “I’m not coming back. But if you don’t handle this, I’ll have Leo check the funds on Sunday.” He headed downstairs, leaving the old man seething with rage.

Sebastian, fuming, quickly called Elliot. “You brat, tell me who this woman is that Tony’s after! What kind of expensive woman could be worth all that money?”

Elliot, clearly caught off guard, hesitated. “I can’t really tell you, Old Master Hart. You know how Tony is. You should ask him directly.”

“You coward! You’re scared of him? Fine, at least give me the woman’s address. I’ll check her out myself. I won’t tell anyone!” Sebastian demanded.

Elliot sighed, clearly resigned. “I can’t do that either. But you can ask Philip or Lucas—they might tell you.”

Sebastian’s patience was wearing thin. He thought quickly and recalled a conversation with Old Madam Samson, who had mentioned that Elliot was helping Tony find an apartment. His eyes lit up with an idea. “Tell me where Tony’s apartment is. I’ll go take a look.”

Elliot’s reluctance was clear. “You’re just going to look at the apartment, right? Okay, fine. It’s at Ocean Blue Residence, Unit 709, 7th floor, Block A, Heathrow Street. Don’t tell anyone I told you, Old Master Hart.”

Sebastian jotted down the address, a mischievous glint in his eye. “I’ll see what kind of extravagant woman Tony’s involved with.”

As he left the study, Sebastian called for his great-grandchild, Henry, who was busy doing his homework. “Henry, come here. I need to ask you something.”

Henry hurried over, unaware that Sebastian’s patience was wearing thin. The old man glanced at him, trying to contain his frustration. “Didn’t you say Tony brought his girlfriend home?”

“That wasn’t his girlfriend. She’s just a female friend,” Henry corrected him innocently.

“It’s the same thing.” Sebastian dismissed the distinction, his mind already racing. “What was she like?”

“You mean Myra?” Henry smiled brightly at the mention of her name. “She’s really nice. I like her a lot.”

Sebastian frowned, deep in thought. A child’s affection for someone like Myra didn’t sit well with him. “She must be quite the charmer,” he muttered under his breath. “I’ll have to keep an eye on her.”

Henry, oblivious to the underlying tension, smiled eagerly. “Are you going to meet Myra, Old Master Hart? Can I come along?”

Sebastian waved him off with a smile. “Go back to your homework.”

The old man’s thoughts were troubled as he watched his great-grandchild walk away. What is it about this Myra that’s captured everyone’s attention? He couldn’t shake the feeling that there was more to her than met the eye.

The following day, Lyla was preparing for a business trip, though she’d spent the night with Sean. She had decided to visit the Chase Group, as she had been frequenting the company for several days and was getting familiar with the staff. Lyla knew she was slowly gaining influence within the company. Everything Sean has now is because of Myra, she thought, but it’ll all be mine soon.

Lyla entered the Chase Group with confidence, admiring how well-organized everything was. She couldn’t help but feel a little proud of herself. After all, Myra had supported Sean when he was at his lowest, using all her funds to help him. Now that Sean had rebuilt the Chase Group, it seemed like Lyla’s time to take over had finally come.

As she walked through the lobby, Lyla was allowed entry without question. She had no intention of feeling guilty; after all, no one knew she was Sean’s current partner, while Myra remained the wife behind the scenes.

While on the elevator, Lyla had the sudden urge to visit the design department. But as soon as she stepped off, she saw Eve walking toward her. Eve had pulled a worker aside, asking, “Is Miss Stark in today?”

Lyla immediately recognized Eve, though their previous interactions hadn’t been filled with animosity. Eve had once forced Lyla to stay away from Sean, but in truth, Lyla was already planning to confront Sean even without Eve’s interference.

Lyla approached the worker who was speaking to Eve. “Miss Stark isn’t around much anymore,” the worker said. “I heard she handed in her resignation a few days ago.”

“What?!” Eve exclaimed, her voice rising in shock. The news hit her like a ton of bricks. She had left the country for a few days, giving space for the younger generation to handle things, but this was the first she’d heard of Myra planning to quit. What happened while I was away? Eve wondered, her mind racing.
