When His Love Turned Cruel(165)

Chapter 165

When Tony descended the stairs, he found Myra sitting alone on the living room sofa, casually enjoying some fruit. He had been in a foul mood after leaving the study, but seeing her there, his mood lightened. He walked over and sat beside her, wrapping his arm around her shoulders and kissing her cheek. His voice, deep and soothing, whispered in her ear, “What are you watching?”

A variety show was playing on the TV, and Myra wore a faint smile as she glanced up at him, appearing to relax upon seeing that he was unharmed. “You’re finally back.”

The way she said “finally” made him pause—was it his imagination, or did it sound a little playful? His eyes narrowed. “Did you miss me?”

“I did,” she replied without hesitation.

Her directness surprised him, stirring something deep inside. He pulled her into his arms, his voice thick with emotion. “Grandma wants us to stay over tonight.”

Myra blinked, momentarily caught off guard. Stay at the Hart residence tonight? That’s a sign they’ve accepted our relationship. I thought my impression had been a disaster. A small smile tugged at her lips. Snuggling deeper into his embrace, she murmured, “I’ll do as you wish.”

She fit so perfectly in his arms, and for a moment, he was stunned—he hadn’t expected her to act so uncharacteristically calm. Lifting her chin, he searched her eyes, his gaze intense. “Why are you so obedient tonight?”

Her face flushed at the question, and she quickly turned her head away. “If you don’t like it, we can always go home.”

Her attempt to act calm only made it harder for him to maintain his composure. His voice dropped to a whisper. “You’ve been acting strange. Why don’t you want to look at me?”

His tone was both teasing and demanding, and she couldn’t help but feel the heat of his stare. To avoid his gaze, she leaned into his chest and whispered, “Tony… there are other people in the house.”

He grinned, as if he hadn’t heard a word she said. “Did you know that Grandma didn’t prepare a guest room for you?” He nipped at her ear, his voice low and husky.

It took her a moment to process, and by the time she did, heat surged through her. Her cheeks flushed bright red, but he only laughed, a sound that made her heart race. “If Grandma had a room for me… based on your attitude, I’d still end up in your room, wouldn’t I?”

Myra pushed him away, a playful annoyance in her voice. “I’ll go ask Mrs. Frye to prepare a room for me.”

“Prepare a room for you?” His grip on her waist tightened, and his eyes darkened with a mix of amusement and something more possessive. Her face reddened, and she couldn’t look at him. His gaze held a dangerous allure.

Her heart raced, and she bit her lip. “Tony…”

Not giving her any space to escape, he pulled her back into his arms. His lips were on hers before she could protest, kissing her fiercely, as if he was trying to dominate her. Her hands moved instinctively to push him away, but the moment she let her guard down, his hands were on her again. Her blouse was quickly undone, exposing more of her.

“Tony, no…” She tried to pull away again, but he only laughed, eyes gleaming. “We agreed to watch TV. What are you doing?”

His laughter was dark, filled with hunger. “Are we really just watching TV?”

Her body flushed, her senses overwhelmed by his touch. She whispered, “You… beast.”

She quickly fixed her clothes, though they were already in disarray after earlier moments. He had torn a button from her blouse, leaving her exposed. Her now-mussed-up office attire gave off a more seductive vibe than before.

Tony’s eyes were full of desire, his voice deep. “Grandpa went straight to his room after the study.”

Myra was flustered but managed to ask calmly, “So?”

“Grandma and Grandpa usually don’t leave their rooms at night. Serena and Henry don’t get up either. As for Shawn, we can ignore him,” Tony said, his gaze never leaving hers.

Her heart pounded, and she felt a dry thirst in her throat, but she forced herself to focus. “Don’t get any closer. It’s still early. Why don’t you watch some TV with me? Or you can go handle work matters.”

The suggestion seemed to annoy him, and she could feel the change in his mood. He didn’t like being reminded of his work, especially when she was offering him the choice. She felt guilty, and her heart softened.

Noticing his displeasure, she tried to smooth things over. “Let’s just watch some variety shows. This one’s amusing.”

Her voice had taken on a softer, more pleading tone—something she had never used before. She immediately felt embarrassed, but she couldn’t stop herself from looking into his eyes, hoping he would relent.

Tony glanced at the screen, his lips pressing into a thin line. “This isn’t amusing at all.”

“Well then, let’s watch something else.” She handed him the remote, an expectant look in her eyes.

He glanced at her again, a small flash of something in his eyes before he shrugged and tossed the remote onto the coffee table. “I have some horror movies in my car. I’ll go grab them.”

Myra was unfazed—horror movies didn’t scare her, especially after watching so many with Estelle. It wasn’t the movies she was concerned about; it was the fact that she didn’t want to return to their room too soon. She also remembered Meow and tugged at his arm, her tone urgent. “Wait, where’s Meow? Is it still in the car?”
