Chapter 192
“Admit it; you enjoy this, don’t you?” Tony pulled a wry smile, then turned around and walked into the living room, leaving the angry older man behind.
“Only you like this! Your entire family seems to enjoy it!” Sebastian finished speaking, only to realize that his statement applied to himself as well. His aged face became even more furious, with additional wrinkles deepening. Lisa is the best. She doesn’t upset me like this, he thought. He suddenly felt as though he had wasted an entire afternoon, a time that could have been spent with his wife. Why did I visit this couple just to make myself angry? How foolish of me!
While Myra worked in the kitchen, Tony dealt with some company matters on his laptop in the living room, while Sebastian pretended to read a newspaper next to him. An hour later, lunch was served.
Sebastian wasn’t sure if it was intentional, but all of his favorite dishes were placed in front of him. Meanwhile, Tony only had a simple plate of spinach in front of him.
Myra picked up her spoon and casually announced, “Lunch is served.”
Sebastian chuckled heartily upon seeing the clear difference in the way they were treated. He finally felt the resentment that had been building in his chest begin to fade. In contrast, Tony’s expression darkened. All of a sudden, he slammed his spoon down onto the table with a loud ‘thud,’ crossing his arms tightly across his chest and pressing his lips together.
Myra casually took a bite of spinach from Tony’s plate and nonchalantly asked, “What’s wrong? Is there something wrong with the food?” She pretended to taste it, raising an eyebrow at him. “It tastes fine.”
Her gesture and look reminded Tony of himself when he raised an eyebrow, which made him narrow his eyes in response.
“Don’t mind him. Don’t mind him at all. Myra, the fish you cooked looks great. I love it,” Sebastian hurriedly said, trying to change the mood.
“Thank you,” Myra replied, feeling pleased by the compliment. As a result, the awkward atmosphere began to fade. She was about to take a bite of the fish when she suddenly found herself lifted into the air. In the next moment, she was securely in Tony’s embrace.
“What are you doing?!” Sebastian was the first to react, his voice filled with surprise.
Tony carried Myra in his arms and started heading toward the staircase. Looking straight at her, he coolly replied, “Taking her upstairs.”
Upon hearing those words, Sebastian’s face turned red, but he said nothing more.
“Tony!” Myra said, furious and wanting to push him away.
“Go ahead; shout! Scream louder!” In a few seconds, Tony had reached the top of the stairs and walked into the bedroom. He gently set Myra down and took a seat next to her, his body pressing close. He looked at her with a sense of satisfaction.
After some time, when it seemed like things had settled down, Tony made sure Myra was comfortable before tucking the blanket around her and gently brushing her hair from her face.
A knock on the door sounded from outside. Tony pulled the blanket up around her, then gently spoke, “Enter.”
Sebastian poked his head in through the door. It was clear that he was uncomfortable, perhaps sensing the lingering tension from earlier. Clearing his throat, he muttered, “Can you call my driver for me? My phone died.”
Tony gave him a cold glance. “You can use the phone downstairs.”
Sebastian knew he could, but he wanted to make sure Myra was okay. Seeing her resting peacefully in Tony’s arms, he finally felt a sense of relief. He couldn’t help but glance at his grandson reproachfully. “Don’t go too far with her, Tony. If you push her too hard, I’ll have words with you.”
“Stop lecturing me,” Tony replied impatiently, his face showing a trace of annoyance. “Close the door on your way out.”
Sebastian paused, then turned back to Tony. “What about the situation with that woman outside?”
Tony’s eyes narrowed at the mention of Kris, the woman who had been loitering outside. When Myra had been with him earlier, they had seen Kris standing outside the gates, waiting. The glass windows allowed them to see outside but kept the people outside from seeing in. Although the moment between them was intimate, Tony couldn’t ignore the fact that Myra’s attention seemed to shift when she saw Kris.
“Don’t worry about her,” Tony replied, dismissing her presence with a cold tone. He had no intention of letting Kris’s behavior interfere with what was between him and Myra.
After Sebastian left, Tony gently tucked Myra in and went downstairs. As he walked out, he saw Kris standing in the yard, looking upset and unsure of what to do.
“Tony…” Kris called out softly, her voice filled with an emotion Tony found hard to ignore. She had been waiting outside for hours, unwilling to give up. She wasn’t ready to leave, still hoping Tony might feel something for her.
Tony stepped outside but didn’t approach the gate. He stood still, looking distant, and with a cold demeanor, he lit a cigarette. Holding the cigarette with his right hand, he glanced at Kris and then took out his phone with his left.
The phone call was quickly answered by Cameron, whose voice sounded confused. “Myra, why are you calling me so suddenly?”
“Cameron, do you remember me?” Tony asked with a cold smile. His tone was controlled, but there was an undeniable edge to it.
Cameron seemed taken aback but quickly regained his composure. “Director Hart? Why are you calling from Myra’s phone?” he asked, sounding a bit confused but polite.
Tony chuckled lightly. “Take a guess, Cameron.”
Cameron remained silent for a moment, then offered a weak smile. “Myra… She must have kept this from us. I’m sure she never meant any harm. I hope she doesn’t cause you any trouble, Director Hart.”
