When His Love Turned Cruel(193)

Chapter 193

“Heh…” Tony chuckled softly, the amusement barely concealed in his laughter.

Cameron tightened his grip on the phone and asked, “Director Hart, what’s the purpose of your call today?”

Tony flicked the ash from his cigarette and replied coolly, “Naturally, I’m here to give my future father-in-law a gift. I heard that the Stark Group has been eyeing the Elsinore Garden Project recently.”

Cameron’s eyes narrowed slightly. “Director Hart, are you suggesting—”

“I’m willing to give up an additional 3% of the profits from the Elsinore Garden Project if you allow Myra to take the position of general manager at Stark Group and oversee this project. What do you think?” Tony didn’t wait for Cameron to respond. Instead, he casually addressed the person on the other end of the phone as ‘father-in-law,’ making his intentions clear.

Cameron’s expression shifted as he processed the offer. He understood how valuable the Elsinore Garden Project was to the Stark Group, and an additional 3% of the profits could significantly impact their future. This is a generous offer, he thought. “It seems Myra is well-loved,” Cameron said with a smile, having weighed the situation. “She’s a trustworthy person. I feel comfortable with her taking charge of the Elsinore Garden Project.”

With that, Tony ended the call without further discussion.

“Tony…” Kris no longer addressed him formally. Shocked, she bit down on her lower lip, struggling to find the right words. “Have you misunderstood me? I didn’t intend to deceive you during our last conversation. I can’t explain everything, but Hilliville, the Ritz Carlton, and the Stark Group will all be mine in the future. I know the Hart Group is working hard on Hilliville, but if I can secure it, I’ll gladly hand it over to you.”

Kris felt frustrated and blamed Tony’s indifference on their past conversation outside the Zion Club. Her mind raced as she recalled how he had distanced himself from her, leaving her feelings unresolved.

Tony, after hanging up the phone, didn’t look back at Kris. He turned, extinguished his cigarette, and walked back inside the house without a word. His behavior was a stark reminder of how much he cared for Myra and how little he thought of Kris.

Kris stood there, helplessness washing over her. She was about to lash out when her phone rang. She answered it, and her face changed drastically as she listened to the voice on the other end. After the call ended, she glared at Tony’s retreating figure, got into her car, and left the scene.

Meanwhile, Myra had rested enough and witnessed the exchange between Tony and Kris from the floor-to-ceiling windows. At first, she felt a surge of anxiety, but she breathed a sigh of relief when Tony tossed his cigarette butt to the ground and returned inside. She turned away from the window, not wanting to let him see the worry on her face.

Tony walked into the bedroom, chuckling softly. He took off his coat and got into bed. As he climbed in, he pulled Myra close and kissed her forehead. “Are you angry?” His voice was softer than it had been earlier, and the hard edge of his demeanor seemed to vanish.

Myra struggled against him for a moment, but when she couldn’t escape his hold, she bit her lip in frustration. In one swift motion, he flipped her over and kissed her lips, teasing her with several light kisses. He raised an eyebrow playfully. “Don’t you want to know who I called with your phone?”

“I don’t care,” she muttered, her voice soft.

Tony chuckled again, his chest rising and falling with each laugh. Myra buried her face in the covers, embarrassed by his playful demeanor. He didn’t mind and pulled her into a tighter embrace. “I called Cameron,” he said casually.

Myra blinked, taken aback. She looked up at him, her eyes meeting his with curiosity. He smiled, his eyes glinting with mischief. “I threatened him. I told him I wouldn’t give him the Elsinore Garden Project unless he let you become the general manager.”

Her heart skipped a beat at the seriousness of his words. She looked into his eyes and saw the playful smile that made her cheeks flush. She reached out and gently took his hand, her fingers playing with his. “It feels like I’m being protected…”

Tony hugged her tighter, pleased by her response. “That means I’m not doing enough. Maybe I should put you in a cage after all.”

“Myra gritted her teeth. “Tony Hart!”

Tony laughed heartily and lowered his head to whisper in her ear, “Grandpa has left.”

“I know,” Myra said, feeling a little down. “I embarrassed myself so many times in front of Old Master Hart today. It’s all your fault.”

“He also took that little thing we bought at the supermarket with him,” Tony added with a playful tone, his voice dripping with amusement. Myra’s face flushed at the mention of it, and she quickly buried her face in the covers, hoping to hide her embarrassment. But Tony wasn’t done. He pulled her back into his arms, placing her on top of him. “Grandpa and Grandma are getting older. We should make them happy.”

Myra looked at him suspiciously. “What do you mean?”

Before she could react, Tony covered her lips with his once again, his voice low and teasing. “Since Grandpa and Grandma want great-grandchildren so much, we should work harder to make their wish come true.”

Her face turned crimson at his words, and she quickly pulled away. Meanwhile, her thoughts wandered to her family and the strange situation she found herself in with Tony. Still, she couldn’t deny the warmth she felt at the thought of him caring for her.
