When His Love Turned Cruel(11)

Chapter 11

Myra paused her writing but didn’t lift her head. “You don’t have to come home with me. I’ll explain everything to Mom when I get there.”

Sean’s expression darkened, his eyes narrowing as he studied her. “What are you going to explain to her?” He leaned in slightly, his tone almost mocking. “Myra, you’re not mad, are you? I never took you for the petty type.”

Petty? Myra’s eyes closed briefly. What should I do to avoid being petty? Her voice remained even, though her words carried a sharp edge. “My husband is going to buy an outfit for his lover before taking me home. Sean, don’t you think that’s a bit cruel?”

Unable to focus on her design anymore, Myra set her pen down and raised her eyes to meet his. Sean was undeniably handsome—his high cheekbones, sharp nose, and thin lips made him appear almost otherworldly. When he looked at a woman with that gentle expression, it seemed like he was ready to give her everything. How could any woman not fall for a man like him?

“Director Chase, if you have nothing else to discuss, please leave,” Myra said calmly, her tone cool. “I still have other matters to attend to.”

Sean’s expression grew colder. He studied her for a moment before letting out a frustrated snort. “Do as you please,” he muttered, turning and walking away.

As he left, Myra let out a deep breath, trying to calm the suffocating feeling in her chest. Just then, her phone rang, and when she saw the caller ID, her expression turned icy. She immediately rejected the call and placed the phone back on her desk. Her eyes drifted back to the design draft in front of her, though her focus had already begun to wane.

As the office grew quieter with the departure of her colleagues, Myra remained at her desk, continuing to refine her drafts. Elsie, looking as pristine as ever, gathered her things and left for the day. Myra watched her go, her eyes cold.

The office was now quiet, and Myra’s focus shifted to something else. She had done her homework on Tony, searching through his past real estate projects to uncover any relevant information, such as his preferred architectural styles, so she could tailor her designs accordingly.

During her research, she stumbled upon a short video filmed earlier that morning. In it, Tony wore a perfectly tailored black suit, his tall, slender figure accentuated by the sharp cut of the fabric. He sat with a casual air, his expression unreadable but still captivating. The video highlighted his career, but toward the end, the host posed a personal question.

With a playful smile, the host asked, “Director Hart, here’s the last question. I’m sure I’m not the only one curious about this—do you have someone you like right now?”

The atmosphere in the room shifted, the question unexpected. For a moment, everyone thought he’d brush it off. But then Tony surprised everyone by answering, “Not now.”

The host was momentarily confused but quickly recovered. “So, you’ve liked someone for a long time? Are you in a relationship with them? Because you’re still single… does this mean you have a secret crush?”

Tony’s eyes narrowed, his face unreadable. He didn’t answer, though his silence spoke volumes. The host tried to press further, but before she could, an advertisement interrupted the video, abruptly ending the interview.

Myra stared at the screen for a moment, surprised. I didn’t expect a man like Tony to have a crush on someone, she thought. What kind of woman could possibly be a match for someone like him?

Shaking her head, she set the thoughts aside and returned to her draft.

A moment later, her phone rang again. Glancing at the screen, she felt irritated and immediately added the number to her blacklist. A few minutes later, her phone rang again. This time, when she saw the caller ID, she felt a sense of relief and answered the call.

“Myra!” Estelle’s excited voice came through the line, her enthusiasm palpable.
