Chapter 150 – Unspoken Tension
Myra glanced at Tony. “I wasn’t expecting him to visit today either. I didn’t want to talk to him at first, but he kept holding me back. He even gave me that invitation and said some strange things.”
The mention of the invitation seemed to weigh heavily on her mind. Realizing that Tony had a soft spot for her probably made her feel better. However, she didn’t want him to get upset because of Sean, nor did she want their relationship to face any more turbulence because of him. It wasn’t worth it.
Tony’s gaze shifted toward the white pamphlet that had fallen on the carpet of the car, and a cold look flashed across his eyes. Even though he said nothing, Myra could feel his desolation. She bit her lip and gently reached out, interlocking her fingers with his free hand. When he didn’t pull away, her face flushed slightly, and she murmured, “I admit, I used to like him.”
Her words seemed to strike something in Tony. His hand tightened around hers, and a sharp sting of pressure shot through her fingers. Grimacing in pain, Myra looked at the dark expression on his face and softly added, “Your moods are so unpredictable. Just a moment ago, you were so gentle, talking about your crush on me, and now you’re being so intense.”
His gaze snapped to her, serious and unyielding. “Do you want me to turn back and take you to the Chase Residence? You still have time to snatch him back since they haven’t had the wedding yet.”
The cold jealousy in his voice almost made Myra laugh. In the end, she couldn’t help but chuckle. “You’re already jealous before I even finish talking.”
His lips pressed into a firm, straight line, and Myra tugged on his hand, lifting it to place a soft kiss on his fingers. Her face turned even redder, and she subconsciously tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear. Tony’s eyes caught the sight of her flushed ears, and she let out a sigh, her voice barely above a whisper. “I used to like him, but it’s all in the past now. I don’t like him anymore.” She hesitated for a moment, her face growing even redder, her bright eyes brimming with bashfulness. She took a deep breath before continuing, “I like you now.”
Before she could say anything else, the car screeched to a halt. The sudden stop threw Myra forward, and by the time she was back in her seat, she felt herself being spun around and landed on Tony’s lap. Before she could even process what had happened, Tony’s lips crashed onto hers with a forceful, passionate kiss. This time, there was no gentleness. He didn’t give her a second to breathe.
Her mind raced. The windshield was wide open, and they were in the middle of the street, with people outside already watching and whispering. Myra hated how shameless he could be, but still, she didn’t have the courage to stop him.
Gritting her teeth, she whispered in his ear, “Don’t… Tony, can we go home?”
His eyes grew dark. He lifted his head, and when he saw her cheeks, neck, and even ears turning bright red, his expression softened a bit. Myra’s face only grew redder, and she nervously added, “Let’s go home… You can do anything you want when we’re home. Just not here.”
Tony’s eyes remained intense, like a net that trapped her every move. For a moment, she thought he wouldn’t agree to her request, but then he finally let her go. His gaze was still dark, but he lowered his head abruptly, biting her lip before allowing her to sit back in her seat.
Myra scrambled back into her seat, her face burning, and quickly urged him to start the car. The night was deep, and the cool autumn air was starting to settle in.
She opened the window and let the breeze wash over her, trying to calm the heat in her face. Tony pulled out a cigarette and prepared to light it. But then, a thought seemed to cross his mind, and he kept the cigarette back inside. In a low voice, he said, “I don’t like seeing you with him.”
Myra, her head close to the window, heard every word clearly. The anger she had felt earlier melted away, and she mumbled sweetly, “It’s not like I wanted to stand with him.”
Tony’s expression remained calm as he replied, “You know what I mean, Myra.”
He couldn’t change the six years of feelings she had for Sean, but from now on, she was his. Myra turned her head to look at him, seeing the calm expression on his face. After thinking for a moment, she nodded helplessly. “Okay. The next time I see him, I’ll run in the opposite direction. If he catches me, I’ll call the police. Is that good enough?”
Tony’s gaze darkened, narrowing as he glanced at her. He had a feeling she had him wrapped around her finger. With a soft smile, he stepped on the gas, and soon they were back at her apartment. He parked the car in the basement lot and turned off the engine.
Just as he reached for the door handle, Myra suddenly grabbed his hand, stopping him. “Wait.”
Raising an eyebrow, Tony followed her gaze to the front of the elevator. A woman stood there, dressed in a light green, tight-fitting dress, with a shoulder bag to match. Her silhouette looked eerily familiar. When the elevator doors opened, the woman stepped in, and as she turned around, Myra’s face grew serious.
It was Kris.
“Aren’t we getting down?” Tony asked, turning back to her.
Myra hesitated. “The only reason Kris is here is to see me. But if we get out of the car now…” She paused, glancing back at him with an unusual look in her eyes. “Why don’t we wait for a bit? Let’s wait in the car before getting out.”
Even though Myra couldn’t hide the unease in her expression, she didn’t want the Stark family to find out about her relationship with Tony just yet.
