Chapter 160
Myra felt a pang of unease. She hadn’t even thought to buy a gift for the Hart family!
In the back seat, Meow’s cheerful cries echoed as it played with a ball. Meanwhile, Myra could only focus on the nervous knot in her stomach. Though she had the words on the tip of her tongue, she found herself hesitating to speak. Her palms were slick with sweat by the time the car neared the villa area.
The car gradually came to a stop by the side of the road. Tony, with a rare look of helplessness in his eyes, unbuckled her seatbelt and pulled her into his lap. He kissed her lips softly and then pressed his forehead against hers. “Are you nervous?”
“Yeah…” Myra lowered her head, her arms instinctively wrapping around his slim but firm waist.
Tony’s eyes narrowed slightly. “I have a way to make you feel less nervous.” Before she could react, he kissed her again.
Myra lifted her head in surprise, her large eyes filled with anxiety. She was stunned by his boldness, and soon her face flushed a deep red. Flustered, she attempted to scoot back to the passenger seat, but Tony’s hold on her waist was unyielding.
“Tony Hart!” she cried out, her voice a mixture of embarrassment and disbelief. “What are you doing?!”
“Didn’t you say you were nervous?” Tony’s voice was low, his lips tasting faintly of cigarettes. Myra wasn’t repelled by the taste; instead, she was entranced by his deep, affectionate gaze. His facial features were sharp, handsome, and perfect.
Myra’s heart raced. “Use a different method…” she muttered under her breath, though her words were more for herself than him. But Tony seemed intent on making her nervousness disappear in his own way.
At that exact moment, fate intervened.
Sean, returning Lyla to the Chase Residence, was driving along the mountain road near the villa area. As he neared the black Maybach, he immediately recognized it. His memory of the license plate was sharp, and his suspicions were confirmed—the car belonged to Tony. Not far from here was the Hart Residence.
As Sean’s car approached, he heard a familiar female voice from inside the Maybach. His body stiffened in an instant. Without thinking, he slammed on the brakes. His veins bulged, his grip tight on the steering wheel, his chest tightening in anger and jealousy.
Lyla, who had been sitting next to him, noticed his sudden change in demeanor. “Sean, what’s wrong?” she asked, concerned.
Without a word, Sean rolled down the car window, his gaze locked on the black Maybach. The red-orange hue of the setting sun bathed the car in a harsh light, making it appear even more ominous to him. His pulse quickened. The voice from within that car was unmistakable—it was Myra’s. His heart burned with jealousy, and his fists clenched.
Lyla watched the scene in confusion, unable to discern what was going on. Though she didn’t know who was inside, the faint blush on her cheeks was all the confirmation she needed. A mix of emotions swept over her as she timidly called his name, “Sean…”
Sean didn’t answer, his mind preoccupied with the anger consuming him. His hands gripped the wheel tightly as he felt an overwhelming urge to drive away from the situation. He couldn’t bear to witness Myra and Tony being so close. It felt like a punch to his gut.
Meanwhile, Lyla, still unsure of what had caused his change in behavior, gently reached over and placed her hand on his arm. Her voice softened as she worriedly asked, “Sean, are you okay?”
But Sean, consumed by thoughts of Myra, suddenly unbuckled her seatbelt and pulled her into his arms. His embrace was rough, but just as quickly, he shoved her away. She hit her arm against the car door, pain flashing across her face, but Sean didn’t seem to notice. He was far too deep in his own turmoil.
The car engine roared to life as he drove away, Lyla’s expression filled with both confusion and concern. Sean didn’t see the small change in her face, too wrapped up in his jealousy and anger to notice.
Back inside the black Maybach, Tony finally let go of Myra and placed her back in the passenger seat. Seeing her flushed face only fueled his desire, and he kissed her deeply again, savoring the moment.
The world outside seemed distant, and all that mattered was the woman in his arms.
