Chapter 171
Kris felt a flicker of surprise, her heart racing slightly as she looked at the captivating man before her. His stoic expression remained unchanged, but the thought of him coming alone to find her, and now agreeing to her invitation, made her wonder: could it be that he was… actually interested in her?
Without waiting for her, Tony strode forward with his long legs, already heading toward the door. Kris quickly followed, not forgetting to nudge Myra’s shoulder hard as she passed. “Tsk. Don’t waste your time. I’m telling you; this man is mine! Myra, I know you’re also interested in him, but look at your current identity. I suggest you stop trying.”
Her words were sharp, and with that, she caught up to Tony as they walked toward the elevator together.
Myra slowly turned around, watching them. She noticed how their expressions had shifted, becoming lighter and more at ease. She could see Tony’s usual taut features softening. A tight pang of emotion gripped her chest. She had tried calling him twice, but he hadn’t responded to either call. His indifference stung.
After stepping out of the pantry, Myra was met by Tilly, who had just returned from her physical check-up. Tilly eagerly rushed into Myra’s office, her eyes wide with excitement. “I heard that Director Hart was here this morning. You’re having lunch together, right?”
Myra paused, the words coming out more quietly than intended. “He already has an appointment.”
“An appointment?” Tilly wasn’t surprised, knowing Tony’s schedule was always packed. But then, she leaned closer to Myra, her voice dropping. “Miss Stark, are you upset?”
Myra thought for a moment before responding, “If you had a boyfriend, and he had an ex-girlfriend he still dreamed about occasionally, would that upset you?”
Tilly immediately understood what had happened. She processed the situation, then asked cautiously, “Myra, you dreamed about your ex, and Dreamboat Tony found out, right? That’s why you’re upset with him?”
“I guess so…” Myra admitted, her voice reluctant. “I know I don’t love Sean anymore, but I can’t understand why I dreamed about him. I must have said something while I was sleeping. And today, he…”
Tilly nodded sympathetically. “I heard people talking outside, gossiping about Dreamboat Tony talking to that woman all morning and then going to lunch with her. At first, I didn’t believe it, but it seems true.”
Tilly rolled her eyes, but her tone softened. “Myra, I don’t know about anyone else, but if it were me, I’d be hurt, even if I didn’t show it. From what I can tell, Director Hart’s mind is complicated, and I can’t predict his next move. He probably just feels awkward. You should try to explain it to him. He’s not unreasonable. He’s been pursuing you for so long, so he can’t really be angry with you for something that wasn’t your fault.”
Myra felt a little more at ease after hearing Tilly’s words, but still, doubts lingered. “Do you really think so?”
Tilly gave her a conspiratorial smile. “Trust me. Men like Director Hart need to be coaxed sometimes, even if they don’t show it.”
Myra chuckled softly and nodded. “Thanks, Tilly. I won’t eat lunch with you today.”
Tilly winked. “I understand! Go coax Dreamboat Tony!”
Later, Myra drove to the jewelry store Only One, where the manager quickly greeted her. “Miss Stark, regarding the diamond you left with us, we’ve carefully cut it according to your instructions, and it’s now ready for you to collect.”
Myra smiled, nodding as she admired the two rings, set with dark blue crystals that shimmered with a mysterious elegance. One of them fit perfectly on her left middle finger.
Feeling a blush creep across her cheeks, Myra nodded to the manager. “Please wrap it up for me.”
After leaving the store, Myra headed to the Ritz Carlton. As she got out of her car, Aaron hurried over to her. “I saw him go into the VVIP room with Kris. I didn’t want them using that room, but Mr. Engelhard insisted. I had no choice.”
Myra’s heart softened at his concern, but she assured him, “It’s okay. They’re probably just discussing business.”
Aaron muttered under his breath, “I hope so. Kris seems a little too eager to get involved with him. You need to keep an eye on your man.”
Myra nodded, her hand resting on the bag containing the rings. “I’ll be fine.”
She asked Aaron to arrange for a private room next to theirs. The manager quickly prepared it, and Myra, feeling a surge of determination, sat down in her room, unable to hear what was happening next door. After a moment of thought, she sent Tony a text message:
“Tony, I’m in the private room next to you. I want to give you a gift. Can you please come over?”
She waited, but the message was ignored.
Knowing that Tony would likely not respond right away, Myra stood up and walked out, handing a waiter an object with instructions for later. As she passed through the hall, she saw Kris, all smiles, getting into Tony’s silver Bentley.
Kris had a confident glint in her eyes, thinking that Tony might actually be interested in her. But when she tried to join him in the car, he shut the door without a word, and the car sped off, leaving Kris standing there in a mix of disbelief and frustration.
She could only swallow her pride and call for her assistant to bring her car. Soon, she was following Tony’s car, heading toward the Ritz Carlton, where she hoped to catch up with him.
Meanwhile, Myra’s mind was focused on the ring in her bag, and her resolve grew stronger. She knew now what she wanted, and she was ready to give herself fully to Tony, just as he had to her.
The Ritz Carlton provided excellent privacy, and soon, Myra was in the next room, ready to face whatever came next. The uncertainty of her situation lingered, but she was certain of one thing—she was ready to fight for what she wanted.
