Chapter 149
Chapter Title: The Breaking Point
Myra’s patience finally snapped. In one swift motion, she flung the shopping bag at Tony. “I’m not changing into anything!” she snapped, her frustration boiling over.
Without a second thought, she turned and walked quickly toward the car parked in front of her. As she moved, her mind didn’t even consider calling a cab to go home.
Relationships required understanding and compromise, but both she and Tony had long since lost those qualities. Despite this, somehow, they still managed to love each other, even if it was messy and complicated.
By the time she reached the car, she was still waiting for Tony to catch up. He approached at a steady pace, raising an eyebrow at her before unlocking the door.
Without a word, she slid into the car.
Tony climbed in beside her, locked the doors, and immediately leaned toward her. He pressed his body against hers, and without warning, lowered his head to place a gentle kiss on her forehead.
“Don’t be mad anymore, okay?” he whispered, his voice unexpectedly soft.
Myra felt herself weaken in that moment. Her anger, which had seemed so strong just seconds ago, melted away at his words. She bit her lip in frustration, turning her face away from him.
But Tony wouldn’t let her go. He turned her face back toward him, his gaze intense. He kissed her eyes gently before speaking, his tone low and serious. “Who told you to let me see you with that guy when I rushed back to find you? It made me upset.”
“You’re upset?” Myra shot back, her voice thick with emotion. She pushed him away slightly, staring at him with big, clear eyes filled with despair. “What about me? When you flirted with women at social gatherings, I didn’t say a word. When I called you the other day and heard a woman’s voice at your place, you didn’t even think to explain. Do you know how miserable that made me? And then you say you like me? But all the while, you’ve had a crush on another woman—one you’ve never even told me about!”
Tony’s heart clenched as he saw the accusation in her eyes. He kissed her forehead once more before shaking his head, his voice firm. “I’ve never flirted with anyone at social events. That’s just slander. As for that night you called… the person who came over was Gemma from the Walton Family. She came to see me because of her brother’s connections, but there’s nothing going on between us.”
His eyes darkened as he continued, his voice dropping slightly. “And as for the crush… it’s true. I do have a crush on someone.”
Myra’s breath caught, and her eyes filled with disbelief. She stiffened, unsure of how to react.
Before she could say anything, Tony let out a soft chuckle. “I have a crush, but isn’t she my girlfriend now? Myra, if you want to keep being jealous of yourself, I can’t stop you.”
A tear slipped down her cheek, catching on her eyelash. At his words, it rolled down, and she blinked, not expecting the flood of emotion that followed.
Tony wiped it away with a soft kiss, then pressed his lips to hers, kissing her deeply. When she began to struggle for air, he pulled back, looking down at her.
She winced in pain, biting her lip. Despite the confusion and lingering hurt, her mind was reeling. He admitted to having a crush—but that woman, the one he liked… was her?
Her heart raced as she looked up at him, her voice barely above a whisper. “Are… are you telling me the truth?”
His eyes darkened again, and a dangerous gleam flashed in them. “You don’t believe me?”
“I-I believe you now!” Myra blurted out, immediately regretting how loud her voice sounded.
She pushed him away, needing space. The close proximity, the scent of him, was too overwhelming, and her mind had started to spin. She hadn’t even thought to ask when he had started developing feelings for her if she truly was the woman he had a crush on.
Tony simply smiled and sat back in the driver’s seat, starting the engine without another word.
She cursed silently under her breath. You devil.
As they drove off, a woman stepped out from behind a parked car, her face twisted in anger. Sasha, having just walked by, had never expected to see Tony with Myra. She thought it had all been a joke, but now, she realized with a sickening pang of jealousy that Tony and Myra were truly together.
She felt a surge of rage flood through her. She must have used some dirty tricks to win him over. Sasha fumed. Without wasting a moment, she pulled out her phone and dialed a number.
“Sean!” she spat as soon as the call connected. “I told you Myra wasn’t as simple as you thought, but you didn’t believe me. Just now, I saw her with Director Hart from the Hart Group. They were shopping together! She even used his wallet—his credit card!”
Sasha’s anger bubbled over as she continued, “Myra must have made some kind of deal with him. I’m sure she’s working with Tony to attack our Hay Group.”
On the other end, Sean was already in a foul mood, and the news only worsened his temper. He scoffed, his voice full of disdain. “She wants to ruin herself now? What does that have to do with me?”
As he spoke, his frustration built up, and he floored the gas pedal, pushing the car to 120 miles per hour.
Sasha chewed her lip, realizing that she and Sean were no longer together. There was nothing more she could do, but a thought nagged at her. “She’s the one who stole our company’s designs before. Do you really think she has any good intentions with Tony? You’re so much better than her, Sean. Women like her are the worst.”
Sean’s anger simmered. Why should I care? He had Lyla now, and his life was improving. What did it matter whether Tony eventually left Myra or not?
With one last scoff, he hung up.
Meanwhile, Myra glanced over at Tony, who was focused on the road, driving in silence. Eventually, she spoke softly, her voice barely audible. “Everything ended between Sean and me the moment we divorced.”
